I needed to write you a letter to tell you how I feel

I know I joke around a lot, but feelings are real

Many times I joke around to hide my feelings inside

You ask if things are OK, I hang up the phone and cry

I want to be a better father, not just a dad

All the time we’ve lost together makes me so sad.

I’ve always had excuses not to spend time with you

Always at a loss for words or not knowing what to do

You’re my best friend with beauty inside and out

But I always knew all along what you were all about

I see a lot of me in you and I couldn’t be more proud

You’re just a big ray of sunshine wherever may be a cloud.

You’re a woman with a big smile and even a bigger heart

I hope you remember, for as long as we’re apart

I’ve got pictures in my wallet and some in my car

Taped to my locker at work, I believe you’re a star

I read your text messages and they keep me believing 

You will still be there as others would rather leave me.

I’ve always been proud to have served in the USMC

But nothing compares to the pride you’ve given me

I went off to the Marines in hopes to make life better

Same as you going to college, that’s why I write this letter

You packed your car headed for higher education

In do time I believe, I’ll see another graduation.

Always remember the pride you’ve instilled in me

It’s just too bad you’re a Branden cause you sure look like a Lee. HaHa!
