Many days and nights, all I ever seem to do is dream

I’ve heard about nightmares, where people wake up and scream

I know this ain’t a dream, it’s a nightmare that I’m living

Surrounded by strangers, and the system, whom aren’t very giving.

I’ve made a few friends, but most I choose to ignore

Some just like to chat, and to find out what your in here for

Some of them play cards, and some will watch a little T.V.

Some of us get bored, I look at them, they look at me.

You can walk around in circles, twenty-six laps is a mile

Some guys are making faces, while others just sit and smile

Why are some guys happy, and some are so depressed

All of a sudden the nurse shows up, I might of guessed.

It seems everyone pops a pill, to try and get just right

Some will walk around like zombies, others will say goodnight

Pill popping people, our whole society is on drugs

Maybe the government is having their way, implanting us with bugs.

I believe in freedom, the freedom to live the way we choose

But in a country that picks, and chooses, you may win and you may lose

I respect those who uphold the law, but not those who abuse it

Those who think they’re above the law, their job, they should lose it.

Here’s a reality check on life, money to people, has a certain ring

You can travel all over the world, and buy most anything

I can only speak for myself, you don’t miss what you never had

As long as you have someone to love, life can’t be that bad.
