Take A Look
Look into my eyes, do you see eyes of blue
Do these eyes say, that I will be untrue
Take a look at my face, does it show deceit
Or is this somebody, someday you’d like to meet.
Now look at my smile, is it all it seems to be
Or is it a stranger longing to be free
Now take a long hard look, look at me up and down
Am I the kind of person, that you would like to be around.
Take a look at my skin, does color really matter
Excuse me a minute, do you like me skinny or fatter.
Do you like me quiet, or to laugh out loud
Maybe indiscreet, so I don’t stand out in the crowd.
Do you like me well enough, to someday maybe call
Or maybe I get the feeling you don’t like me at all.
Just tell me the truth, there aint no sense in lying
Are you afraid I will get mad, or maybe end up crying.
You see I’m a real person, what you see is what you get
You treat me right, I’ll always remember
You do me wrong, and I’ll never forget.
Those of you who read this, think of who you are
The distance between the two of us, really isn’t far.
In no way am I perfect, or ever to lay claim
Just your average Joe Shmoe, whom some people know
And might say that I’m insane
Dear friends, in closing, I must truly say
Don’t let anyone tell you where to go
Cause you might end up going there someday.
