Being truly happy means you are being true to yourself - you need to do everything you want in your life. Stop dreaming and make your vision a reality. Don’t make excuses with reasons why you can’t be successful in what you like to do/want to do. A lot of us can admit that we are in a job right now that we don’t like, which plays a role in our overall happiness. I know you can’t just quit your job, but you can start making steps that will help you get out of the job you are unhappy in.
I moved to LA from Fargo, ND because I had this great vision of being a music video editor/director/and producer. After a year of interning, I lost my passion with working in the music industry. I was confused and didn’t know what I was doing with…life in general. I started reading books again (primarily self-help) which gave me my first steps towards feeling “full” again. The most important is that you have a purpose. You could be the richest man alive, and be: unhappy, unhealthy, unfulfilled- you need a purpose. I recently just quit one of my jobs so I can “double down” on my vision. I can tell you that chasing your vision/dream is painful, but it’s such a good pain. You are believing in yourself one hundred percent without knowing the outcome- just knowing that in the end it’s all going to be worth it.
“Pain is only temporary, but what if we learn to embrace the feeling of pain along the way of working towards our vision.” We don’t like pain because it’s uncomfortable. I honestly didn’t do what I wanted because I cared about what others would think of me; if I was changing and being someone I’m not. Everyday I am trying to be the best me and learn; it’s unrealistic that I wouldn’t change along the way. I have zoned in on what I want and I’m making steps everyday to make it happen, without thinking the thoughts of others. Right now I’m experiencing discomfort because I’ve never made bold moves like this- following my vision and not looking back.
I wake up everyday, just being confident in the steps I make because there is no guide this time. I was told to go elementary; high school; college; get a job; make money…I’m no longer following the book and so now I will face the hurdles that come my way. My point with this post is to do what you want. No dream is better or bigger than anyone else’s, but having a dream and never chasing it is the worst thing you can do to yourself.
Huffington Post: Chasing a Dream
“Many individuals have a dream, but the number who actively pursues it isn’t as large. The difference in these numbers can be due to a lack of belief, not having confidence, being afraid to take a risk, bad timing, not knowing the best way to begin, and more. Notwithstanding, it’s great to have a dream; however, a dream without action to achieve it can lead to missed opportunities for the dreamer and others.”
